THE CHILDREN'S LITERATURE COMPREHENSIVE DATABASE OFFERS A NEW 30-DAY INDIVIDUAL SUBSCRIPTION

Bethesda MD - September 20, 2002 - The Children’s Literature Comprehensive Database (CLCD) now offers users two ways to subscribe. New this month is a 30 day individual subscription for classroom teachers, reading teachers, students, literacy organizations, museum personnel as well as others who determine that their needs are best met by a short term subscription. It provides unlimited searching and individual use of the database to conduct research, create bibliographies, develop thematic units, or catalog children’s literature materials.

“Many teachers have told us that although they are always looking for new books to enhance their curriculum materials, in reality, their schedules permit in-depth focus only a couple times of year. They will certainly benefit from the availability of a 30-day individual subscription, “says Marilyn Courtot, President of the CLCD Company LLC. The 30-day individual subscription is available at $29.95.

Each month CLCD adds 1,000 new MARC records and an average of 1,200 new reviews and 1,000 new entries for books, awards, reading list, etc. The annual subscription for unlimited building-wide use is still available at $249.95. Special pricing is available for multiple buildings, school districts and library systems.

“Our students and student teachers find the CLCD especially helpful to support their Children's Literature courses. We were delighted to find that the expanded databases have been offered at such a reasonable, affordable price so that students at small colleges like ours can continue to access this growing resource.” Flora S. Lowe, Library Director, Mount St. Clare College, IA
