A boy must deal with his grandfather’s Alzheimer’s disease while going through the rough changes of adolescence. As the condition worsens, the roles of the grandfather and grandson change. Jake now takes care of his grandfather; feeding, bathing, dressing, and babysitting him. Although Jake gets frustrated with the great responsibility, he comes to love and appreciate his grandfather in a way he never did. I absolutely loved this book! I could not put it down. This book is a great read for those who are going through a family illness. Barbara Park hits the feelings of youth right on. Pre-teens who read this book will really relate to the main character, Jake Moon. A MUST BUY! Category: . 2000, Aladdin Paperbacks, $4.99. Ages 9 to 14.
