Reviews:
- Mary Sue Preissner (Children's Literature)
This book tells the young reader why a tree is a good thing to have around because among many things trees provide food, shade, places for a tree houses, and places to hide from dogs. The illustrations occupy most of the pages, which alternate between full color and black and white. While the book is enjoyable and informative, the use of the four-letter word "nice"--is one that is overused in this text. Caldecott Award. 1956, HarperCollins, $14.95, $14.89 and $4.95. Ages 5 to 8.
